Along with all this great information, I want to add (with no references): HC flash memory can increase flash capacity from the normal 4 or 8 gb to 32 or 64 gb. This or the new 30gb micro hard drives from Toshiba could dramatically increase the BN's ram and user storage.

Have a great day,
Alex

Subject: [Braillenote] scary future

Hi List:

In the pretty near future as computing becomes smaller and faster
there is no doubt that our wonderful BrailleNotes will come to
feel obsolete. As we look forward to version 8.0 of Keysoft, and
I do, I also look forward to new hardware some point. Below
are some reasons why:

Multi-Gigabit Speeds ExtremeTech Sept. 18, 2007
************************* The new "SuperSpeed" USB spec will
provide a 10X boost in transfer rate (from 480-Mbitssts in USB
2.0 to 4.8 Gbitssts in USB 3.0), while dramatically lowering
power consumption, with broad deployment by 2010. One example of
their speed goals is to transfer a 27GB HD movie to a portable
device in 70 seconds. The same thing would take 15 minutes or...

Process PC World September 18, 2007 *************************
Intel Corp. said Tuesday it will ramp up performance and energy
efficiency in its microprocessors by using a 32-nanometer process
technology starting in 2009. Intel President and CEO Paul

technology. The chip will house more than 1.9 billion

I'm looking forward to a slimmer, faster, wifi BN with some added
bells and whistles.
