I upgraded to KS 7.5 yesterday. I haven't thoroughly tested everything, but
so far I like the new software.
I've played around with the foreign languages and have experimented with
Spanish. I find it interesting that the Spanish table is for Castillian
Spanish, but the Spanish speech sounds like the New World Spanish and there
is no lisp like Castillian Spanish has.
Writing it using the QT keyboard is the same as it was for earlier models of
Keysoft: you must use the unicode tables.
The external QWERTY keyboard works the same, too. I noticed you cannot
control the speech volume using an external keyboard. Pressing the right
alt key with comma or period just repeats the last message.
After reading Rhonda's post about interesting words, I created a document in
braille and wrote several words, including candy, and they all
back-translated fine.
I'm not hep on the tape recorder, fm radio or games so I won't even bother
to try them out. I'm most interested in putting the Duxbury translator
through its paces and seeing if it's as accurate as the full version. I
don't do much math, but I'll play around with the calculator, too. I'll try
out KeyWeb and Keymail, too, but I usually use the internet with my PC.
I'll pass up the stopwatch for now.
The Daisy player doesn't interest me now, but I hope things will work out so
people can use it the way they want to.
