Hi, Alex,
To turn word wrap off, open a document. Go to the layout menu. Press the
space bar until you get to "Word wrap? Currently on." Press f to turn it
off.
You're right the ASCII translation doesn't mention carriage returns, but it
does mention line feeds.

How do I turn off word wrap?
The new line option in the ascii translation options was already correct,
but there is nothing about carriage returns.
I open and save files in line format already, but it seems to affect
nothing whether this is line or paragraph mode.
Have a great day,
Alex

Hi, Alex,
You could try turning off word wrap so the BN won't add its own
soft
returns.
Remember to use line mode when you are opening and saving .txt
files. If
you don't use line mode, each single hard return will become a
space.
Next, go to the ASCII translation options. Turn on the use line
feeds and
use carriage returns.
Lastly, Don't change your extension until you have transferred
your .txt
file to your PC and checked it out with a good text editor.
PowerEdit is a
good text editor.
I hope these suggestions help.

Okay, this is ridiculous. There seems to be no way to retain
new lines in
txt files that are created or edited on the bn. This is
extremely
frustrating, especially for programming where hard returns can
make all
the difference. When I write a program on the bn, renaming the
extension
to the correct language (.cpp, java, whatever) and move it to my
computer,
what have been described as "square zeros" appear where I had
put a new
line on the bn. What can I do, if anything, to have the hard
returns
actually work correctly? Thanks.
Have a great day,
Alex
