Dear Will,

I have experimented with German and I know that everything looks right and types right for those of us who live in the US since we don't use contractions for German. The BN says "cannot translate grade 2 German," when I try to enable grade 2 input. My guess is HumanWare chose not to implement all of the tables. The full version of DBT has them all.

I have also noticed I can use 6-dot braille entry and the umlaut letters will translate correctly but I can't do that for Spanish. So the BN has more support for German than it does for Spanish.

I don't know if this is any comfort to you, but as far as I know none of the other notetakers on the market support foreign languages.

Subject: [Braillenote] typing in german

hi

It appears then when one types in german on a braillenote we have to speel everything out, and can't use the contractions like dot 1 4 5 6, for the CH symbol in french all this work fine but why not for german is the wrong or perhaps not the right code implemented to allow us to type with the contractions in german?
as i say for french everything works a treat and it is what i am used too
