Again, working with a classic qwerty style braille note. I am curious if
there is anyway, once I get online either with the modem, or with wireless,
that I could somehow sign in and connect to MSN Messenger. I know that
there is no msn messenger client installed on the Braille Note, but I've
heard two stories. I've heard absolutely no, it cannot be done, no way, no
where, no how, but I have heard others say, it's a little tricky to do, but
yes, it is doable. I was told that some people already are doing it. I
dono if they're doing via web based, like with meebo.com or maybe
mobile.live.com, etc. but I'd be real interested to know, as I am a huge,
big big big big big time msn messenger fanatic. As for my braille display
questions: I have two of 'em. Firstly, being this is a qwerty style, once
I get it here in a few days, Lord willing maybe even today, I wanna set it
up so that I can use the braille display quite obviously. Well, because you
are not using a braille based keyboard. I don't wanna have to type
,hello1 my "n is *ris4 ,i hope y >e hav+ a gd "d td4
I mean, I suppose I could do it... but... ... ... That would
r'r'r'r'r'really! get on my nerves. Is there a way I could type normally
yet have the unit automatically translate to grade two braille on the
display, or is this something it'll do automatically anyway unless I
purposely set it to grade 1. I guess what I'm saying more clearly is, which
grade is its default behavior, and if it's grade 1, then where do I change
that? OK, now on my my more important question which I am desperet to find
an answer to. I have a Dell Inspiron E15O5 which is a quite new system.
Wail? We got one slight issue. I have JAWS 8, as well as the public beta
of JAWS 9. Well, I wanna use JFW, or use Window Eyes 6.1, BTW, as a last
resort, and then have braille output from jfw/W E, through my Braille Note.
I know this is really doable, very much so, but, well, two, big, erps kind a
issues: firstly, the guy who sold this to me cannot seem to locate the 9pin
serial cable, so, in the long run I'd buy one, I mean to me that really is
not a big issue, however, the situation lies with my laptop. There is no
serial port on the thing. Yeah, there's a female V G A video port, but I
don't think that'll help us do ya? Sarcastic smile. LOL! I know I can get
supposively, a serial to USB adapter, but then the thing is, wouldn't JFW
still be looking for a Com port? I mean, I don't see how just a little
adapter would make Windows XP install a whole different com port and think
it was a serial. So, basicly what I wonder is, is there a way we can get
around this without me having to buy anything extra? I'm getting the
included USB cable. That's no issue, but, I dono aside active sync, or
going to the BN folder in my computer, any way really to do this. When I
look in JFW, under the synthesizer and braille manager, and then click add,
then arrow down to braille display, then tab to next and hit enter, I do see
braille note listed, but, if I tab once to the description read only edit
box, it says it interfaces via serial. I've frankly not found a way to
trick JFW into seeing it through the USB port and then just kind a working.
I didn't know if there was maybe a driver or something somewhere I could get
that may do the trick by creating like a virtual serial port etc. Anyway,
your help from either other users or from staff, even better yet, would be
wonderfully appreciated.
Thanks.
Chris.
