CM is the abbreviation for Centimeters. Did the e-mail send? I'm asking because I'll bet that it was just a pronunciation issue, but it wouldn't actually translate cm into centimeters when sending the message because the address is in computer braille, so it wouldn't convert anything you write into something else.
If their address started with mm it would have said millimeters, but that is just a pronunciation thing.
