I second this. It could just be an option under the setup menu. When enabled, you see messages like normal but if a message has a thread it would have a number after it or something. Pressing enter on it would not give you a message but rather a list of messages, which can be managed like normal, and space-e when in that list would bring you back to the main mail list. The best thing would be to be able to manage these thread messages as all messages at once--by that main message--instead of one at a time like we have to do now.
