I have a Nokia N95 with Talks, and while I like it a lot, I don't think it can completely replace a notetaker, at least not for a student like myself. In a couple years pocket PCs may be able to take the place of a notetaker though. I've just started using a Voice Sense, sometimes with the SyncBraille, and so far I like it a lot.
