Hi List, particularly those who work with Word docs frequently, If you people want me to (and if you give me permission), I'm willing to conduct a statistical study (similar to the ones that I've done two years ago regarding memory issues with IE). This time, it concerns Word support and conversion issues.
Here's the background:

Lately, some people were experiencing an issue where some Word docs could not be opened on their machines. Apparently the theory is that it might be caused by complex formatting or inclusion of features which KeySoft does not support. Here is the inference, or the result that I want to get: Null hypothesis: there's no issue with Word support as of KeySoft 7.5.28.
against
Alternate hypothesis: there are in fact issues with Word support. with 95% confidence with margin of error of plus or minus 2.5%.

Here is the procedure:
1. Copy couple Word files: try copying four or five Word docs, with at least one having complex formatting such as images and/or tables that are bound to have format marker indicator and/or language tags. I recommend that at least half should be saved under Word 2003, about 10% should be saved under Word 2007 (save it as Word 2003 file) and others under XP (2002) or 2000. 2. Open a simple document first using either "Open" prompt under KeyWord and/or from File Manager/Directory option. See if KeyWord presents errors and if not, check and see if the contents are intact. 3. Now, open a second document, this time the one that might contain language tags (dollar sign, lge). Check if lang tags are there and if the contents are intact. 4. Now, open a document that has images and/or tables. See if you can read tables. 5. Next, open another doc that is bound to show a lot of format markers (dollar sign, fm). Check if this mark is present at the beginning of every line and that the text is there.

I'll try this myself (if I find some documents). Let me know your findings (I'll publish the result myself). The result would be useful later on (maybe in another BrailleNote Chat or something similar to add to the website).

Cheers,
Joseph
