I must disagree about the service in the US not being as great as it could be.
I have been a user of the Classic, mPower and PK for
over two years and must say that I think that the two Assistive Technology
companies that cared the most about their customers must
be Sendero Group then HumanWare. I have had nothing but positive experience
with either company. I have learned that more
information is better than no information. I have spoke with the Vice President
of Sales of HumanWare here in the US in a number of
situations and he has said that the more information that is provided to the
repair department is better as there is a higher chance
of it being resolved quicker and to be fixed properly.

I truly think that there is not much of a comparison when looking at note
takers that are specifically tailored to people who are
blind other than the BrailleNote family of products. There is no other note
taker that allows for such a powerful Dictionary and
Thesaurus branded by Oxford, a powerful and intuitive Nemeth Tutorial, and the
best Accessible GPS Solution--the Sendero GPS, with
the option of the getting a flavor with the Way To Go or Test Drive.

Well, I guess I'm spoiled. I want my braille display to be a notetaker too.

Don't get me wrong. I love my BrailleNote! But HumanWare here in the US
doesn't show any interest in its customers. They gave us no notice when
they changed their maintenance agreement policy and they probably wouldn't
have issued any announcement at all if those of us on the list hadn't
demanded it. The notice came from Maurice Sloane, not from anyone in the US
office.

Besides that, some people on this list have posted stories of how they would
send their units in to be fixed and they would receive them back with the
same problem or additional problems.

That's another reason why I hesitate to plunk down $2,995 to upgrade my
Tieman braille display--I'm afraid HW might foul something up when they made
the transfer.
