Terri, I think your view may be somewhat skewed by what has
happened
recently. I do not think that Humanware is going extinct.
Rather, I
see that it is in flux right now, changing to accommodate the new
needs of the market place.
I do not believe that Humanware is going to stop supporting its
BrailleNote. It may take some time for the kinks to be worked
out
when it comes to personnel and so on, but I think in the long-run
they're going to surprise us. Part of the reason that I don't
think
that Humanware is going any where fast is that there are rumors
about
development in the BrailleNote line.
Also, you must look very hard at the bergening market in DAISY
players. Look at the popularity of the VR Stream, and it's only
been
out since November. Do not forget, Terri, that Humanware has the
contract for the manufacture and support of the new Chunky
digital
player from NLS. That, my friend, is a huge contract. They're
not
going anywhere, Terri, not at least on the trail to extinction,
oh,
no, they are most definitely *not* going in that direction.
Lest anyone ask me, the Chunky, is my name for the player. The
creators of that player will probably fill their offices with the
sound of laughter about it, but I can't help it. It's a Chunky.
