Dear BrailleNote List Members HumanWare has chosen to treat members of the BrailleNote list as responsible adults and grant them the same free-will that each and everyone of us enjoys in our everyday life. This accord carries some responsibilities and in the time I've "very lightly" moderated this list, I have been pleased that the list membership generally provides good control of the list content.
It would seem that it is necessary for HumanWare to state on a weekly basis that we do regularly monitor this list. No, I don't have each and every list post popping up in my in-box, but we do archive all posts into a common in-box which we review at least once daily during business days. As previously acknowledged, we are aware that BrailleNote has deficiencies in some areas, and as many have already attested on this list, so does every other product. We have also acknowledged that we are working to correct some of these deficiencies, especially those related to the handling of Microsoft Word. Unfortunately change takes time, and just as our your own personal lofty dreams and ambitions are not miraculously achieved overnight, neither are software changes that require a considerable amount of planning, implementation and testing time. Please bear with us, we do have your interests at heart. Remember, keep your subject posts relevant to the topic being covered, and concentrate on what you do best, helping each other gain the best from the BrailleNote family of products. Personally I don't mind it as we are all bn users and so can all benefit from product comparisons. Talking about company policy is, admitedly, off-topic and should probably be curbed before we have people unsubscribing because they are tired of watching us bicker about hw's business decisions, but notetaker comparisons, I feel, have their place.
