The older notetakers from Blazie (now Freedom Scientific) had only 7 keys, space and the 6 braille keys. Because of this you deleted characters by hitting space-b instead of a dedicated backspace key. HW put this mode in so that when you moved from a notetaker like that to a bn product you could still use the backspace-b command. It is nice; after having used one of those notetakers for 2 years before getting my bn, I can tell you it takes a long time and a lot of bad keystrokes before you get into the habbit of hitting backspace instead of space-b. I once had to go back to my old notetaker while my bn was in for repair, though, and kept using my pinky to hit the edge of the case because I was finally so used to there being a backspace key. It is kind of hard to switch between two systems like that, a bit like I imagine it would be to go between two keyboards set up for different languages.

Have a great day,
Alex

You have compatibility mode on. Go to utilities > miscellaneous
options
compatibility mode and hit n, then enter.

Subject: [Braillenote] Problem accessing block commands menu in
Keysoftversion 6.1.

Hi,
I have a BrailleNote running Windows CE version 6.1. I am
attempting
to select and copy a block of text from a file and paste it into
a new
file. However, when ever I use the command to get me to the
block
commands menu, the BrailleNote deletes the characters before the
curser. I went into the instruction manual to see if there was a
change in commands and found out that there wasn't. I reset the
BrailleNote, but still got the same result. Is there a command
I'm
missing? Please help! Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks
so
much.

Respectfully yours,
Jess
