Hi folks,
Yesterday's chat was somewhat good (not bad
though) although the turnout was low (five
people showed up). Some folks had problems
with networking, some people left before the
chat was over and so on.
First of all, I would like to apologize for
not consulting before I started this chat. I
also apologize for the confusion regarding
starting time. After the chat, the
participants (that includes me) felt that it
was not that effective and agreed that we
should hold another chat around Thursday
afternoon here in united States (and possibly
in Europe as well).
Here's what we've discussed:
* Streaming and memory issue: whenever a user
listens to a stream on the Internet, after
some time, it generates some kind of memory
error. It was determined that it is caused
by almost full KeySoft System Disk.
* Missing manual: A user couldn't access the
User Guide on his BrailleNote. After some
discussion, it was determined that the Manual
folder on the KeySoft System Disk was empty
and that the there was no Manual folder under
Flash Disk.
* PC card slot problem: The same user who had
his manual missing had a problem with the PC
card slot. Whenever he tried to use his
CompactFlash card with the adapter,
BrailleNote said, "Your card has not
correctly been detected." When he tried the
same card/adapter combination on his laptop,
it works. After some discussion, it was
determined that it was in fact the card slot
that was faulty and required servicing.
* Wireless card not working at the back slot
at home: A user reported that his WiFi card,
when inserted at the back slot works at his
school. When he uses it at home, it refuses
to work. When he inserts it into the PC card
slot, it works regardless of where he is. No
solution was reached.
* Speculations about operating system
upgrade: a few comments on CE upgrade,
notably reconfiguration of storage, devices
and so forth.
The chat was indeed recorded but the quality
is somewhat bad. It was due to the fact that
I was doing two things at once: hosting the
chat itself and relaying chat information to
Derek (who was on Skype and couldn't
participate). Still, if you people want, I
can upload the chat recording (my feeling is
not to upload this one, but next session).
Again, my apologies for not consulting and
for confusion of starting time.

what happened during yesterday's chat.
