Hi Carol: Are you using Gmail with Outlook or Outlook Express on the computer? If you are, then you probably have pop access enabled on your gmail account. In this case: 1. On your braille note, go to the keymail menu, then the keymail setup menu, then the directory of e-mail accounts, then press A to add a new account. 2. Give the account whatever name you want. Put in your name as you want it to appear on e-mails that you send, and your complete gmail address. For incoming e-mail server, put in pop.gmail.com. When asked if the server uses a secure connection, press Y. 3. For smtp or outgoing server, put in smtp.gmail.com. Again, answer yes when asked if the server uses a secure connection. 4. For your user name, put in the first part of your e-mail address, the part before the "@gmail.com." When prompted, put in your password. 5. For pop port, enter 995. For smtp port, enter 465. Also, answer yes to the question "My outgoing server requires authentication." 6. Press e-chord or escape and answer yes to "add this record?"
If you are currently accessing your gmail account via the web, then you first need to enable pop access on it. If this is the case, log onto gmail and press enter on the help link. You'll find instructions for setting up pop access there. Once pop access is set up, follow the steps above for setting up the Braille Note to access gmail. Thanks, and please call me if I can be of assistance. Ray Campbell, Help Desk Technician Adaptive Technology Center Chicago Lighthouse for People Who Are Blind or Visually Impaired 1850 W.
