Dear Shamandeep and list:

Yes, you must translate the MS Word file which is now in what is
known as Computer Braille, into Grade Two Braille.

If your school has an embosser, they probably have a Braille
translator program, such as Duxbury Braille Translator, Megadots
or even NFBTRANS.

Duxbury and Megadots are commercial programs, while NFBTRANS is a
free program formerly maintained by Randy Formenti on behalf of
the NFB, Baltimore, MD.

If your school won't let you use their translator, and you have
trouble finding NFBTRANS, please e-mail me privately and I can
burn it to CD for you.

Well the Everest 3 is certainly an Interpoint (double sided)
embosser, but you would need to refer to its manual as to how to
select Interpoint or single sided embossing. Some embossers have
escape sequences for this, others you have to go into its
configuration menus to select Interpoint and also to turn it off.

Before you start making any changes on the school's embosser,
discuss what you want to change and why with your teacher or
principal and if they want you to set it back the way it was, be
absolutely certain you always do so.

Good luck.
