Hi JD and Jenny,
I'll be happy to explain both scenarios:
For JD: this is because there are no drivers
for that particular PC card, which is
designed for older notebooks that does not
have built-in WiFi card inside.
For Jenny: In addition to JD's issue, there
are hardly any cards out there that supports
CE devices anymore - in other words, there
are no PC WiFi cards that works with BN,
particularly with an mPower. The CF card
(Ambicom) has drivers for CE 4.2 which
BrailleNote mPower (and Classic with 6.1) has
as well as Windows CE 5 drivers (that might
be useful in the long run). Also, many WiFi
cards for PDA's like BrailleNote are based on
CF standards (one card even has some useful
storage, but you'll need an mPower).
Besides, you can get around the storage issue
by purchasing an 16 GB CF card along with CF
to PC card adapter (with this card, you can
store more than 16 billion characters worth
of information).
I think this post answers both questions.
Cheers,
Joseph

Subject: re: [Braillenote] Question about
wifi cards, cf vs pcmcia
Hi:
I have a PCMCIA WiFi card, but the
BrailleNote does not recognize
it.
I've wondered too why.
