Hi Alana and list,
This "operating system live update" is, in my opinion, not a good idea at the moment. Here are some reasons why: * The user needs to be connected to the Internet at all times. * There should be a method of notifying the user about new updates and what they "fix." * There should be a method for automatically installing the updates.
Few explanations why:
* The feature that Alana suggests is what's called "operating system live update." This feature means that the operating system on Windows Mobile devices will be updated automatically as long as these devices are connected to the Internet. * These updates are just patches - there might be possibility of uninstalling this upgrade, either by accident or on purpose. * If the patch was installed on KeySoft System Disk (at present), if after performing Hard Reset, the "update" will be gone. For these reasons, manufacturers often release patches as a firmware upgrade to minimize this loss.
I guess that sums up my reasonings.
Cheers,
Joseph P.S. Please, folks, don't confuse Windows CE with that of XP: they are completely different.

Subject: [Braillenote] Future updates

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to make a suggestion about
future updates. It would be good if
HumanWare could put in an automatic updates
feature so that you can check
for minor updates whenever you want to.
These minor updates should include
fixes to daylight savings times to allow for
any modifications to the time
that is allocated for daylight savings in the
future.

For example, in some parts of Australia they
have extended the time of
daylight savings for another [it would've
ended last Sunday] so my BN
adjusted itself automatically and I had to
set the right time back.

What does everyone else think of this idea?
