I so know how you feel since I'm in my school's choir and we do a lot of
that jumping around as well. Only for me it's doubly difficult because
the teacher often refers to the place they are jumping to in measure
numbers and I only get the words instead of the full braille music, which
can be very frustrating. My only suggestions are to A memorize all your
songs or B put place markers at the beginning and end of each verse and
jump to them. The commands on a Bn BT would be backspace with D to define
a place marker and scace with J to jump to one. I hope this helps.

I quite agree with you. I think we'd all be better off if we
just let the
moderators handle us privately. I love the information I get on
here, but
I've also seen some unneeded harsh messages. I moderate a list
and what I do
is just email the person quietly and remind him/her of the
boundaries, and
they get two warnings. ON the third time, there is no warning,
and the
offenders find themselves just out of the group.
A person can say some things and get the same point across
without being
harsh. for example, someone could have said, "Hey, I like your
commentary
about the BrailleNote, but if you want to talk sports, there is a
group you
can go to for that." We don't realize how powerful our words are.
Okay, enough of my soap box. Now I have a BrailleNote related
question. I
use my BrailleNote to read the words as I'm singing on the stage
at church.
However my pastor likes to jump around quickly from one place to
another and
sometimes it's hard to get to quickly. If anyone else use the
BrailleNote
for this application, could I have some tips. I'm talking about
Pastor
changing mid song and after the bridge going back and singing the
chorus or
Verse one. What I do is put all my songs I'm singing that Sunday
into one
big file, because it seems to be quicker than trying to close one
song file
and open another.
I have a regular song book but it is very out of date with all
kinds of
loose papers in it and it's double sided braile. That method
seems to be
more unfriendly than using the BN. I turn a page and hit the
mic, or
constantly have to keep flipping the pages back and forth. I
thought about a
loose leaf binder with all the songs in there at random, but I
don't think
that will work well at all. So, if anyone has any suggestions
for me, I'd be
grateful.
Last Sunday, we skipped one song, sang the last one, and then
went back to
the one we had skipped. So, I was doing the mad scramble to try
to find my
place. Sometimes using the find command takes about as long and
especially
when quick timing is crucial. I wish I had longer than a week to
practice
the songs, because then I'd memorize them and forget the whole
mess. Since I
don't have that luxury, any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Kevin, how dare me! I should have mentioned that I keep tracm
of the
hockey scores and team standings on my BN, I just forgot to
mention that
fact. I also wrote the message on the BN. You could have also
deleted
the message if you didn't choose to read it, like I do on some
that don't
interest me. I've also wondered about the messages about The
Good Morning
America, but I didn't complain about them, I just deleted them.
We all
enjoy our BN's, and hope I've mentioned it enough this time.
Sometimes,
it's good to lighten up a bit. I never complain about
speculation about
products. Gosh, I'm so sorry!

I am not the moderator of the
BrailleNote list but I would think that many
on this list subscribed to this list for
one reason--to read about the
BrailleNote. This can include anything
from a problem/solution, feature
request, recommended external device and
anything relating to the
BrailleNote. I don't see how the last
three messsages relating to sports in
any way shape or form relate to the
BrailleNote. The least that could have
been done was to carry the conversation
off-list or stretched it by
including the BrailleNote in there
somewhere.
So, it is my recommendation that all
further discussion of sports, unless it
relates to the BrailleNote ends here.
