Hi, I didn't get any help for my question however I did try
syncing the pk with the pc again today and after a c1 c4 reset it
all worked fine so I now have all my planner and contacts on my
pk. I will now have to wait until next time to see if I can do
it again.

use keysync because I will add different things to different
machines and then I will want to update both machines regularly.
