Hi Luis and list,
What I did for my math courses was I performed the mathematical
operation in KeyPlus. Then I returned to my document in KeyWord, which is
in computer Braille, (After creating a new document, O chord for Options
Menu, G for "Grade of Braille for Keyboard Entry?" and C for Computer
Braille). I would copy the calculation into the KeyWord document (Enter
with I for Insert Menu, C for calculator result, C for calculation, or R for
result only). After I had completed all of my math problems, I would print
this file out just like you would any other KeyWord Braille file. (**By the
way, my instructions are for BrailleNote BT users).
Chemistry is a much more complicated matter. Once again, you will most
often want to work in Computer Braille, because this allows you to insert
Unicode characters. There are 2 main problems to deal with. First off,
HumanWare needs to fix the issue of superscripts and subscripts not printing
correctly. For instance, when you want to write the chemical compound
methane, CH3, where the 3 is subscript, the BrailleNote prints it as a
regular 3.
The second problem is that you have no way of indicating tripple
bonds. Single bonds can be dashes (-), double bonds can be equals (=), but
there is no way to indicate tripple bonds. You might be able to get around
that using a computer with a sophistocated Unicode table.
Hope that helps.
Best of luck,
Craig
