Ottawa Canada Dear Karen and list:
To search for available Wireless Networks, go into the wireless menu of the BN and use that option. Then you can use the menus to make a wireless configuration for that network. Some wireless networks in hotels etc. require you to press alt-I for the "I accept the terms, conditions and price if any" of their wireless network. As the BN and VN have no alt key, you cannot generate this keystroke yourself, and sometimes you have to click on a pure graphic I accept button, which is something you cannot do as well. However there is hope! If you telephone Tech Support for the hotel network, they may be able and willing to put your BN onto the hotel network manually and for the whole duration of your stay if you wish. One thing I've noticed about having Tech Support put me onto their network is they sometimes to run a charge ticket through for the use of the network. However this is not guaranteed. Note some hotels have frequent guest clubs, such as the Fairmont President's Club which have no annual fee and offer nice perks like free local and 800 telephone calls, complimentary daily newspaper, overnight shoe shine and free high-speed Internet service. Ask your hotel's reservations number if they or their chain have this sort of thing. It can really help keep your hotel bill down, especially the way I use the telephone when visiting Toronto or other places where I have a bunch of friends within the local calling area. Take care.
