The nemeth tutorial that is available for purchase to run on the
BrailleNote mPower was completely revised and updated by Dr. Kapperman
and Jodi Sticken of Northern Illinois University. There are many
additional features that were added that were not part of the original
version that was done for the BrailleLite that was available from Blazie
Engineering. HumanWare has made the tutorial interactive and provided
additional features such as the ability to search a specific
mathematical topic. More information is available at:

The nemeth tutorial is something you buy like the dictionary. I think
it is a very good tutorial very easy to use and read the rules. The
activities are great too it is worth the moeny if you are going to need
to know nemeth code for any reason.

For some reason when i send an email to the bn list and the gps users
list my messages are not getting through. But when I send messages from
my laptop they go through. I am at a loss as to why. When i send other
emails from my bn to anywhere other than one of the lists above they go
through. Anyone have any ideas?

Hey people,
I've found this rather interesting bug in ks 7.5 build 28:
the speech cuts out occasionally when typing fast, and doesn't come back
for about 10 or so seconds. It really isn't much of a problem as I have
the braille display, but all the same, shouldn't it be addressed? Or
has it been fixed in build 29 already?

Yes, I do agree that the Nemeth Tutorial is an exelent tool. However,
There is a website that you can download it for free. I haven't tried
it on the BrailleNote but if you have time and want to save money, I
believe that its worth getting it from a website and if its not for the
BrailleNote then you can convert it so you can have access to it on the
BrailleNote. At least this is my view I don't know if all who want the
Nemeth Tutorial have money to throw away.

Hi,
I'm wondering if ti's possible to write HTML on the BN in a text
file.
What file format would I need to use to do write the HTML and not have
MS
Word tags added? Can I creat a .html / .htm file using KeyWord?
Thanks,

Hi all,
I am having a problem accessing some files on a compact flash
card. I am using a 1 gb card and it has a lot of files. Just to
give you an idea, one folder has 1100 files in it. Anyway, I can
read the directories fine, but it fezzes on the file list.
Is there just too many files on the card? How can I fix this.
I could use my pc but would prefer not too as it has all the
handmns etc that I need.
Thanks.

I actually find the braille to be very sluggish at times, especially
after
unplugging a serial visual display that my teacher uses for observing.
What speech synthesizer are you using? Is it keynote gold? If it is, I
am
very surprised! However, on the other hand, if it is Eloquence, I'm not
really surprised because Eloquence is very prone to crashing.

Regards,
Orhan Deniz.

I've certainly done it. Just create a text file. At the filename prompt,
add
.htm or .html even though it's a text file. Then for example, you could
write:

<html>
<head>
<title>my test</title>
</head>
<body>
<a href="http://www.humanware.com/";>the home of the BrailleNote!</a>
</body>
</html>

Perhaps Alex can tell you the results on the PC, I haven't tested this
myself.

Hope that helps,
Orhan Deniz.

Hi, Kevin,
I have yet another question for you!
Does one have a choice of which speech synthesizer to use? What is
the
default on the PK? Can one change it? Do you recommend one over the
other?
Thanks. And BTW, I will try to listen to that podcast about the Pronto.
It
would be interesting to know how Baum uses the same PK macine, what they
do
with it, how they set it up, etc.

I've had this problem since day one with my PK, and the speech does not
come
back at all unless I do a reset. Very annoying. The braille display will

tell you that speech is on, but it's not. At first, I was afraid there
was
something wrong with my PK, but then I heard this complaint from others,
too
and decided it was just one of those things we have to live with.

Hi Steph,

I'm thinking that you probably have more files in that folder
than what KeySoft likes. For, although I keep saying I'll fix
things, I have a folder on a storage card with over three hundred
files in it, and it takes the BN two or three minutes to open a
file in that folder. So, I can only just imagine how long it
could take the BN to open a file in a folder with over a thousand
files.

The only speech synthesizer available on the BrailleNote PK is KeyNote
gold.

 Hi all,

How do I download books from Amazon to the BN (BT 32)? Is it possible??
Are they the books meant for the Kindle that play on the BN also? I'm
new to this tech as a user...

Thanks in advance!

Subject: [Braillenote] Using my BrailleNote mPower as a Bluetooth
Display Under Linux?

Hi all, I'd like to do the above under Ubuntu Linux. Does anyone
know if
this is possible? I've just found out from the Orca mailing list that
Brltty doesn't support bluetooth. What's that all about? Many thanks in
advance for answering my questions.

Hi all, sorry for the many emails i have sent to the list about the
braillenote. I thought they were not getting through because i have
had problems with email lists before. But anyway, I haven't got any
responces to the braillenote being for sell, anyone know of any places
i can post it? Perhaps another list? thanks

Hi there,
The best place that I recommend would be Blind Bargains.
Cheers,
Joseph
