Hi Kate,
To locate the system name, go into control pannel and system
information. The exact terminology may vary a bit depending on which os
you're using.
Hit enter on system information and you should be able to find your
system name. You may have to use the mouse pointer in window eyes or
the jaws cursor in jfw to do this.
Now, on the pk, go to something like file manager to do your file
access. Actually, you can go to any program on the pk which offers you
a drive list.
Next, locate the drive called network drive and hit enter.
You will see a list of network places which will probably only contain
the "browse for network place" entry. Press enter on that and you
should be asked for the server name.
Type in the name you found under system information on your pc and press
enter. You can leave the password field plank and just hit enter on it.
Once you're done with this, press space with e to exit and you should be
asked if you want to save these settings. Actually, I don't have a pk
in front of me to check the exact wording here, but it should be pretty
apparent.
If you say yes, the settings will be stored for the next time you try
accessing the network. Next, you should get a list of drives on your
pc you can access, depending on how you set up your sharing on the pc
end. Find the drive or folder you want and hit enter for a list of
files.
Now, if you can't get that far, I'm wondering if you have an active
firewall on your pc which could be blocking access, especially since you
said you're also having problems with file access over the network with
your laptop.
If you do have a firewall active, I'd suggest turning it off and then
see if you can get access. That would at least tell you whether or not
the firewall is your problem and then you can take the appropriate
action depending on the particular firewall program.
As I say, I don't have a pk here in front of me to verify the precise
steps, but this should be close enough to give you an idea as to what
you need to do.
Hope this helps,
Don

Subject: [Braillenote] Sharing Files Over Wireless
Hello All,
I'm trying to share my files between the BN PK and my computer over a
wireless network.
Currently I have the wireless network set up and the appropriate files
on
the computer marked for sharing.
The PK is accessing the internet through the wireless network, so I'm
confident that it's connecting.
What I'd like to know is:
How do I find out what the "network server" name is;
How do I find out the "domain name";
Are there any settings I have to do on the PK to allow my files to be
shared
with the computer?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I don't know whether it's any help, but I haven't been able to
configure
this thing for sharing files between the computer and the laptop. I
guess I
was hoping that I might be able to start with the PK and then figure
out the
rest.
Appreciation and thanks are in advance.
Kate
