The BN won't work with my Everest-D because it's an older embosser and uses
a parallel port. The serial port on the embosser isn't compatible with the
BN--I haven't tried a gender-bender to see if that would work.
I'm surprised the BN doesn't work with the new Index embossers because they
have usb interfaces. What happens when you try to emboss using the BN?

Subject: RE: [Braillenote] Embossing from the BN mPower to the Basic D
Ottawa Canada
Dear Ray Campbell and list:
Generally, Humanware does not provide downloadable drivers for
anything, including the Index Basic D Embosser.
Also, they do not discuss their strategic plans due to the
proprietary nature of such matters.
I guess the best advice is to compare the commands the Index
Basic D uses with those of the supported embossers, and choose
the embosser that is supported that most closely matches the
Index Basic D. This may prove satisfactory if the supported
embosser chosen closely matches the Index Basic D, or may prove a
complete disaster.
Good luck and please let the list know your success or failure.
Brian
