Well I phoned Humanware in Concord, CA spoke with Tech Support
and they said anything dealing with money is handled by Customer
service.

They said Tech Support likes to know what the problem is that you
think you need a new battery so they can tell the techs what the
problem is.

But if you insist you need a new battery then you need to speak
with Customer Service.

OK here is the procedure:

First, phone Humanware (800) 722-3393 , press option 5 then 1 for
Tech Support on blindness products.

Explain to Tech Support what the problem is and why you think you
need a new battery.

If Tech Support agrees, they will issue you with an RMA and
shipping address to send your unit to.

Customer service told me a battery transplant is $87, whether the
unit is a Classic or Mpower. Not sure about a PK.

However upon receipt of your unit, a tech will carefully examine
it and give a firm estimate as to what needs doing and the cost.

Not sure if the tech or customer service calls or e-mails you
with the estimate and a request for credit card info to proceed.

Again, I'm sorry you find their constant ads for their goods
grating on the nerves. I find them informative as they mention
many products I don't use but find a knowledge of useful when
describing available solutions to other blind and partially
sighted people.

Hope this helps.
