Hi Blake and list,
Perhaps it's timed to explain this process in even simpler language...
In order for battery recalibration to take lace, certain parameters must be
met:
* The battery compartment must be informed that the battery has been
"charged" for over certain period - usually two hours. This is because it
needs to "emulate" charging the battery from flat state.
* The voltage reading must be close to certain value. I think it is 8.5
plus-or-minus 0.25 volts.
After these conditions are met, then BrailleNote can start recalibrate the
battery. This is done by "electronically" disconnecting the battery
compartment from AC power source. When the process is over - evidenced by
the fact that the battery voltage is 6.5 volts - the battery compartment
will be reconnected "electronically" to the AC source. After that, the
battery is recharged for several hours until the capacity becomes full
again.
As to how this "disconnection" and "reconnection" is accomplished, don't ask
me - I'm not majoring in electrical engineering, where things such as this
and other circuit related things are studied.
This is the overview of the actual battery recalibration status. If you want
to, you can view "what's going on" via command F (for storing recalibration
log on none folder of Flash Disk) instead of R command.
Cheers,
Joseph

Subject: [Braillenote] Recalibrating the battery gage

Dear List members. When I go into the support information mode,
press R for recalibrate the battery gage, it says, I'm charging
up my battery. Initial charge. Once it gets to 100 percent, I
expect it to run the battery down again. However, it doesn't, it
just sits there looking at you. Why is this and how can it be
fixed? Cheers, Blake.
