Hi folks,
As I am browsing list archives, I se some conflicting messages about whether
BrailleNote supports WPA or not. Here are a few coments:
* The question of whether a device supports WiFi Protected Access (WPA)
depends on what type of network card is being used. WPA requires IEEE
802.11G standard which is theoretically supported by BrailleNote as long as
an associated driver for a given card i.e. Ambicom WL54G is present.
* There were few messages about WPA support even before KeySoft 7.5.29 was
released. Some people, including myself have found WPA setting under
Connection Config database (if you view the database using Address List, you
should notice few additional fields that pertain to wPA and security).
* As to Blake's suggestion, I haven't tested the thing. But what he provided
could be somewhat risky - you are modifying product keys which are not
recommendd unless HW confirms its existence (just like "dj" and "playtime"
keys).
I'm hypothesizing that the announcement of KeySoft 8.0 would be made during
September. I hope HW do that in order to keep this community "alive" i.e.
wait patiently to the announcement and also to reassure people that their
suggestions has been heard and evaluated by HW staff i.e. give notion of
confidence. Thanks.
Cheers,
Joseph P.s. Busy studying for math Advisory Exam on Tuesday.
