Hi Josh, Sound like you are a younger version of myself - given that you put almost same subject lines and almost ame type of description of what Deep Sleep Mode is (just some humorous thought that was meant to be a compliment). Welcome to the BrailleNote Expers Club, Josh (I'll regard you as one of the "experts"). In addition to keeping RAM content and running of internal clock, BrailleNOte needs to: * Keep an "eye" on power status changes. For instance, if the AC adapter has been disconnected and if the unit is switched off, if ther is no way to "wake up" the3 unit, how could this machine tell you that the aC power is off? As to the deeper meaning of this statement from programming perspective, I think Alex Hall would be the good person to comment about it. * It needs to alert you of alarms. This comes as a result of running the internal clock; when the time for alarm to sound arrives, the unit must be "temporarily awake" to sound the alarm and respond to user's keystrokes. Hope it made sense. Cheers, Joseph P.S. There is a book called "Embedded programming in C++" that explains programming hardware such as BrailleNote - maybe that would alow you to understand why BrailleNote needs to wakt up when certain hardware status changes.

There have been some people wondering, how braille music could be integrated into the braillenote. Perhaps hw could just put a braille table in there with all of the symbols. 2. There is actually a reason that power is drawn from the batery when a braillenote is switched off. The reason is so the the contents of ram can be retained, and so that the braillenote can keep track of the time. However, if you don't want power to be drawn from the battery, there is a deep sleep mode you can use. Go to the options menu, and press space with I for support information. Then, press H, and then Y. Next return to the main menu, and switch your unit off. If you want to wake it up, turn it on, and do a service reset. I put my bn in deep sleep mode, and packed it in my bag for a four day camping trip once. When My family and I got to our destination, and I took my bn out of deep sleep mode, it was still at 100 percent. ___ Replies to this message will go directly to the sender.
