Hello Kate:
With Verizon, this is what you would put in the BrailleNote. Your pop server isincoming.verizon.net. Outgoing, or smtp is: outgoing.verizon.net. I don't know if you use SSL or not. If you do, the pop port is 995 and the smtp port is 465. If you don't use SSL, leave them at 110 and 25. The ethernet card is different than the wireless. It doesn't make any difference which one is purchased first. I'd probably get the ethernet card from Humanware. Both wireless cards you mentioned work fine, though I don't believe SanDisk is currently available.

Good luck, and hope you get set up soon.

Subject: [Braillenote] wireless cards

I'm looking to get set up with the internet feature of my braille
note. I have never set up an internet connection myself, so forgive me if these questions are really insanely basic and easy.

I have internet access through my desktop computer, its a DSL
connection through verizon. So, it says something about getting information from my ISP, which I assume is then verizon. What info do I need and is this usually done via telephone, like, do I call them and ask them for information or do I basically not need to worry about that if I am already connected with my other computer? Should I just plug the ethernet cord in and should that work?

I haven't tried as much yet because I have to go get an ethernet
card first.. Any suggestions of ones that are compatible?

I do have wireless connectivity at home since I used to have a
laptop computer, so if I just got a WI-FI adapter card, would that work by itself without an ethernet card? Are those two things interchangeable or do I need an ethernet card before I can add a WI-FI adapter card?

I found this list of wireless cards that are supposedly
compatible, but have read in various places some of these don't work so well, does anyone use any particular kind, either of the ones listed here or another kind, and have good reviews?

1. SanDisk Connect Plus CF WiFi + 128MB Memory card
2. Ambicom WL1100C-CF revision 2 only (serial number
WL2342xxxxxxxx)
3. Meritline MWL-672 Wireless LAN 11b Compact
4. Dlink DCF-660W, Wireless Ethernet Adapter, 11Mbps, 802.11b,
   Compact Flash
5. Symbol Spectrum NetWLAN
6. Linksys WCF12 Wireless CompactFlash Card
7. NetGear MA701, Wireless Ethernet Adapter,11Mbps,
802.11b,CompactFlash II
Do any of the faster ones like the D's work in the braille note?
Do the USB connected wireless adapters work?

Thanks in advance for any and all pointers tips help and/or
advice,
Kate
