Welcome to the list. I am also a student, in my second year of
college for computer science. I have had a braillenote for six
years now (in a few months anyway). Don't worry about asking
basic questions; we all have to start somewhere. I mean, it took
me until just this year to discover something about the file
manager that has been there since the bn was first introduced in
2000!
Just so we all know: what kind of bn do you have? That is, does
it have a braille keyboard (called a bnbt) or a print keyboard
(called a bnqt)? This helps a lot when giving keystrokes to
perform. Sorry if I missed this in one of your earlier messages.

Have a great day,
Alex
