Hi All,

I've mentioned before having a VoiceNote BT that my work purchased for me, in addition to my own BT32 mPower. The VoiceNote classic is running KS 6.11, and I know any decisions regarding its maintenance or repair will need to be made through my employer. But, if someone has had this problem before and can confirm if it is, or is not, a battery problem, that would be appreciated, so I can at least be prepared when discussing the unit.

Anyway, the VN was purchased for me around August of 2005, and it has never been returned to HW for any type of maintenance. I knew the battery was getting real low yesterday when I turned it on; and, in fact, the nominal available charge showed zero percent when I checked. Then, before I could get the unit plugged into the wall outlet, the speech stopped altogether.

Now, I've let the battery go down this low before, thus the speech finally stopping was nothing unusual. However, in this instance, unlike before, the VN said nothing when I plugged it in, and it was still doing and saying nothing after several minutes. I even left it charging overnight, and it still won't make a sound.

But, there is one thing it does do that sort of makes me question whether or not my problem with the unit is battery related. For, when I press the reset button, whether the VN is turned on or off, it gives that long beep or buzzing sound or whatever like it is going to reset, but it actually does nothing else in the end, just makes no more noise unless I push that button again, in which case I get that same reset sound. The same thing happens with any of the resets I try. And, oh, yes, as I suspected, in order to rule out the VN speaker being a problem, I tried using the unit with headphones, but there was still no speech. And, too, I tried the same charger with my BN mPower, and that unit charged just fine.

So, any thoughts regarding the problem with the VN before I mention this to my employer would be appreciated.

Thanks.
