Hello Frank and other interested folks,
I don't have an entire hymnal. But each Sunday, we find out what hymns will
be sung at church, and braille them for the blind folks who attend. Or if
we're going to an event where there won't be any other blind guys, we just
put them on the BN. So I have a 15 mb folder with about 250 songs in Word
format, which I could burn to a CD and mail to you if you'd like. It might
be a little hard to find the songs you are looking for, because I have named
them so that they start with the number from our hymnal. For example, the
file name for Joy to the World is "125 Joy to the World". Our hymnal is
"The Hymnal for Worship and Celebration", 1986, Word Music. But if you
think this would be helpful, send me your street address off list (don't
send it to the list!) and I'll mail you the CD. Also, do you know about
cyberhymnal.org? There are a zillion songs up there, at least ones that
don't have copyright issues. Click the Titles link. Then navigate to the
first letter of the song you are looking for and click it. Then move to the
right frame and search for the title. Click its link. The song will play
(I think it is a midi file) plus the lyrics are all on the page and can be
copied. Of course you will want to check the lyrics with your own hymnal.
They can change from book to book, and it is a little embarrassing if the
blind guy is singing something different from the rest of the congregation!
Oh, one more suggestion. I found that the format was a little funny if I
copied the text from the website and pasted it directly into Word. So first
I paste it into Notepad to get rid of whatever the website does to it, and
then I copy it from there and paste it into Word.

Fa la la la la, la la la la.
