Hi all, Yes, Ray, I agree whole-heartedly. This should have been a patch, not part of the elucive ks8 upgrade. Since Bookshare is using standard password protected zip files now, it should be no problem to create a *****free***** patch for the BrailleNote family of products, the whole family, including the classics. Because they are making this part of the elucive ks8 upgrade, it means that classic owners must either come up with several thousand dollars, or the must use their PC's to unzip the books and play them properly, never mind that the Classic BN's used to be able to download Bookshare books.
No, Ray, I must say bluntly, as is my wont, that you are right in your assessment. Humanware does not care for its consumers. It is driven by the desire to earn money. It wouldn't matter what the product was, they don't care. The fact that the deaf-blind have been shut out of the loop makes no difference to them. They want to make money, so they've decided to wait for the elucive ks8. In the meantime, there are those who cannot get their newspapers, cannot get their magazines, cannot get the newest books. I wonder if there are some deaf-blind individuals who do not know about the peanut butter recall? How would they find out? Ah, well, they'll just have to wait for the elucive ks8. I hope nobody eats any Little Debbie Peanut Butter Crackers. <smiling sardonically> Ain't it interesting, Ray, access to information can be a life saving deal. Me thinks this am a safety issue. But then, what do I know? Ann P. -- AAnn K.
