Is HumanWare aware of this OS upgrade? Why doesn't someone from
the company tell us about this. If this is a fact, and not
speculation, maybe HumanWare should advise its customers!
Speculations can cause too much traffic on the list, which is
heavy enough with the chatter about Keysoft 8.

Subject: [Braillenote] OS upgrade, RAM and others
Hi folks,
Here are some answers to some of the points made on this list:
* Actually, the new OS will move everything to Flash Disk (all
the things from KeySoft System Disk will be moved to Flash
memory). This was implemented in Windows CE 5.0 and up
(including CE 6.0). This means that we can have more RAM (all 64
MB for program execution).
* As for features from CE 6.0, we can expect to see increased
virtual memory to 2 GB, Word, Excel and PowerPoint 2007 support,
WiFi 802.11N support and so forth (see the archives for more
details, or I can find the actual post myself and repost it
here).
* As I've stressed earlier, OS upgrade is not easy - especially
up to CE 6.0. KeySoft source code needs to be rewritten, a
smooth way of upgrading the products should be developed and so
forth.
I will not go into details today (I believe someone who is more
knowledgeable would be able to help in this regard).
Cheers,
Joseph
