Hi folks,
I've enjoyed reading emails that were posted during this weekend
(late Happy Valentine's, of course). Few comments regarding
recent topics:
* Welcome, Ben. I think I've seen you somewhere else.
One question though: could you mind be more specific about your
machine (keyboard type and KeySoft version) so that people who
has your configuration could help you better? This is just a
suggestion.
As for accessible tech and music download sites, I can guarantee
that the list of sites that some people have provided would be
sufficient. I don't really want to go into music sites because
of legal reasons. I do, however recommend that you check out my
website at braillenote.pbwiki.com. Also, I'm planning to update
some information on the PBWiki site (after KeySoft 8.0 has been
released) to note few things found under this new KeySoft
version, namely KeyChat, new Bookshare site and so forth (after I
test those things out after the release, of course).
* So far, those three "easter eggs" - wpapsk, dj and playtime -
are only ones known at this time. From what I can gather, WPA
does not work. dj key is a tribute to a daceased HumanWare
employee, and the "playtime" key is the one that opens Tetris
game. The only strategy that I can recommend is that you keep
pressing the two left thumb-keys to increase your score.
* As for Eloquence: yes, this synthesizer speaking in French is a
well-known bug. Apparently, when the system memory runs low, it
"switches" to French, just like you have described. Also, as for
RealSpeak voices: I forgot who developed these voices, but
HumanWare needs to license the voices and format them to be used
by BrailleNote before being implemented as a KeySoft feature. Be
aware that these voices take quite good amount of storage (both
for storing and during running) and processing power, so be
careful. I, however, understand the reason for
internationalization of voices, just like internationalization of
language and braille codes (I seriously hope that the Korean
BrailleNotes would catch up to English version one day so that
people who use BrailleNote in South Korea would use KeyChat...
well, that's another story).
