Your PC should have recognized the memory stick. I suggest you try to find someone who is tech savvy about Windows 2000 to find out why your PC doesn't recognize the memory stick. Could it be because you need a card reader? Could it be a Windows 2000 issue?

The easiest way to transfer large files from PC to BN is to use a CF/SD card or external drive. I've been using CF cards with a CF card reader connected to my PC for years. I also have an external drive and I've had no problems. I'm using Windows XP in my PC.
