Thanks for your well thought out suggestions.  Blue tooth with this phone is 
not an option.  Before getting this phone, I did try working with a blue tooth 
with no success at all.  The infrared Nokia phone has worked ever since getting 
the mPower, which was probably version 7.

As to settings, I have changed nothing.  It's the same set of settings I've had 
for several years.  And yes, I have done resets, etc.

There must be something in the builds after 20, which I had before getting 
build 31.  The comments about the builds after 20 made me leary of getting 
them, so I did not.

Perhaps Maurice will figure something out.

I wonder about version 8.0, whether it will also make using the infrared phone 
impossible.
