Hugh, et al, If you have a little interfacing knowledge, you can get
the BrailleNote to work with your printer. First, you need to get a
serial to USB converter cable and/or adapter; plug the USB end to your
printer, if the printer has a USB port; (to my knowledge, neither the
mPower nor the PK BrailleNote has USB ports, unless they have changed
the makeup of their hardware since KeySoft 7.0. Check your data bit,
handshaking, duplex, etc. settings that they match those of your
printer. If you have any trouble with that, call Humanware and a tech
person can help you with setting that up. If the specified
recommendations of Humanware sync with those of your printer, you
should be on your way. On an unrelated matter, but the specifics I
mentioned still apply, I had to call Apple tech support to get my BN
QT interfaced with my iMac to get it to work; after some walkthroughs
on Apple's part, I got it to work, and now it works like a charm.
Good luck getting your printer to work with your BrailleNote. Take
care. Richie Gardenhire, Anchorage, Alaska.

Subject: [Braillenote] printers
Hello List:
Can someone tell me whether the BN will support an HP printer
level 3 PCL or higher? We've been trying to find a printer that
can be used with the BN. Will 8.0 change the type of printers we
can use? I don't want to buy a printer if 8.0 will change what
is used.
Can the BrailleNote use a USB wireless card? If so, what type,
and where is the best place to purchase one? Wireless cards are
really hard to find, unless you purchase from HW.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Hugh
