I have a voicenote mpower who's batteries were getting a little weak. I
checked with HW and found that one, it costs $150 to replace the batteries,
and two they have moved from Concord CA near me, to Quebec Canada which
means international shipping rates.
Well, I checked and found a Batteries Plus about 30 miles from my location
in Dublin California, not Ireland. We drove the VoiceNote out there, the
guy who manages the place looked at it and said he could replace the NIMH
batteries in a couple of hours given advance notice. We came back the next
Saturday, dropped the unit off and two hours later and $53 lighter, my unit
had new batteries.
The only problem I had was recalibrating the unit. And, no, I didn't have
any SMA's on my unit and my warranty had run out.Well, I couldn't
recalibrate the unit after repeatedly trying the steps listed in the online
user guide. I called HW support and got a reply that advised me to try it
again but to turn off the Bluetooth setting and don't mess with the volume
or any settings after initiating the recalibration process.
I did that and the unit works fine now! Gauge is accurate! So just thought
you might like to pass that story on to others who may be
Sick and Tired of being held hostage to HumanWare's practices of having
users send in their products simplay for battery replacements.
I would think that as overburdened as they must be having to consollidate
services and such, that they would be happy to negotiate a deal with
Batteries Plus so folks could get their units serviced, at least for
batteries, from those guys. Best regards, Jim
