I usually suggest 128 kbps for audio files

I've managed it before, check the bit rate of the file, I think some of
those don't work, but it does list that file type as supported if I
remember reading right

WMA is supported already, with the MPower at least
Other formats can't be done due to the player under the hood being
windows media

Agree on both. Also ogg, flac, aac, sid and lots of other file types.
If we were using linux, there are packages for all these and more.
