For the first time, I decided, from the beginning of this year, to use the planner on my Voicenote as my main appointments diary. However, this meant me duplicating things on my Braillelite, in case my Voicenote had to go away.

I had let things go a bit, and although my Voicenote planner has always been kept up to date, the back-up on my Braillelite was way behind.

Tonight I tried out an idea which worked. I apologise if people have been doing this for a long time, but I think it's worth passing on, just in case.

I have never been able to transfer the planner as a whole to another device. But what I did this evening was to call up 1 January 2009, put a top of block marker in, and then close the planner. I then re-opened it at 1 January 2010, and inserted a bottom block marker.

I was then able to save the block as a text file onto my external floppy drive, and this means that my planner is now backed up and can be used on any other device if my Voicenote has to go away.

All I need do now is get into the habit of carrying out this process once a month, or even once a week.

Best wishes.

PETER WILKINS
