No there is no way to pause recording while recording.
I wish there was one, however.

When making long recordings using the bn's audio recorder, is
there a
toggle command to pause and unpause the recording? similar to
using
backspace and enter to pause and unpause playback. There's
nothing in
the user's guide explaining how to do this. Thanks.
