Odd, sounds like your wifi card may be going out; they do that after
anywhere from a few months to a year or so.

The router is unsecured. The version of KS: 7.5.31, wireless card is a
Ambicom CF card. I'll try to have someone at the house set it to channel

Tell us more: what do you use for encryption (wpa or wep), what version
of ks do you have, what wifi card? Have you tried setting your router to
channel 11?
