Hi Paul and others,
The bhl display "going funny" or scrambled is by design and is normal. When a user performs Service Reset, not only Reset with dots 4-5-fbleJKL will be done, but hardware components of the mPower will be reinitialized. This includes the internal clock (that's why you'll get "date and time set" prompt), braille display and power supply and battery. The braille display scrambling is a way of restarting the braille display via Service Reset. When the reset is carried out, the power connection to the braille display will turn off. That's when the scrmbled dots appear. After a second the power to the display will be restored.
Hope this is simple enough... If not, I apologize.
Cheers,
Joseph

hello,

That shouldn't happen.

Have you tried exercising the braille display.

To exercise the braille display,

1. Go to your options menm.
2. Press space with i for your support information mode.
3. Press x for exercise the braille display.
4. Then turn your Braillenote up-side-down for about 15 to 30
minutes.

Paul

Why does the braille display scramble when you do a service
reset?
