Yeah I think so.
It would.
It's like trying to update drivers for an oudated window's XP but
soon it crashes.
You need to update the hardwhere and softwhere and operating
system I belie.

I just think the whole thing is kind of unfair. But what I think
we
really need, and Alex pointed this out to me, is the next version
of
windows CE. I think that would allow for more compatibility
options as
far as devices are concerned... I really think Humanware should
give
some concern to that. I'm sure there have to have been windows
CE
updates since this one. We'll keep having keysoft upgrades, and
still
be running this antiquated version of windows. Isn't it bound to
cause
an issue at some point?

Hi,
You don't really have to. For instance, you can install 8.0
directly from 7.2, or you can downgrade.
Cheers,
Joseph P.S. SMA's, yes, that would be cumulative (in the cost
field).

you have to do the updates in sequence sadly. At least that's
how I've
learned it.
and getting the updates for the BN isn't all that bad, everything
is on one
page except the key, but that's not a hassle at all if you
consider it.

Just out of curiosity, is there a problem with skipping a
version of
keysoft? For example, I've got ks 7.5, and am not in any hurry
to get
ks 8. But if ks9 comes out sometime in the next decade, and it
looked
promising, could I upgrade to nine without having 8?
As far as having automatic updates goes, I don't see it
happening. It would be useful, however, if there was something
that
allerted you of updates and also let you know when and if your
SMA has
expired. My antivirus software, for example, lets me know when
it's
about to expire, and when I need to purchase a renewed lisence.
It hen
asks me if I want to do it now, or if I would rather it show me
later.
When I do go to update it, it's a very easy online process
requiring
no outside help, no phone calls, no navigating a crazy website
for
what I need to find.
Cheers,
Amanda

Since this idea, while wonderful, would not generate any profits
for Humanware, it's a pipe-dream. After all, upgrades cost about
$200.00 a pop even when they don't offer anything useful.

Hi Robert and list, and HW!
You know what really would be cool?
If HW instead of us having to by SMAS, if WE could have
Audomadicly updates.
You know when the BrailleNote would be conected to the internet,
and it would ask "There are new updates that are ready to be
installed: would you like to install them now?" then you could
press space with h to here "If you wish to update now, pressity,,
if not press n.
Then you could get new softwhere, and drivers for your
BRAILLENote.
Like System Cccess does for the SYSTEM Access network.
That would but so cool!
