Hello list.
My name is Kate Woodford and I am a Sociology major at Agnes Scott
College
in Decatur Georgia. My senior thesis project is exploring employment and
education experiences of the blind. I will be conducting email surveys
and
in person and over the telephone interviews starting in December/January
and
ending in March.
I am interested in how you perceive the education and employment process
and
how you deal with them when they affect you. Study participants must be
legally blind and 18 years of age or older to participate. Other than
that,
there are no restrictions on who can participate in this study. This
study
will include surveys taken from participants around the world. It does
not
matter if you have never held a job or only had a few jobs or one long
stint
or a bunch of different experiences. It does not matter if you have gone
to
college or not. It's your opinion and experience that I am looking for.
The surveys are completely anonymous and there will be strict
confidentiality as well in those in-depth interviews that are taken. All
the
data will be controlled by the Agnes Scott IRB and is not available to
the
public.
If you are interested in participating or have questions, please contact
me
here or through the study email at [email protected]. Allow
a
day for processing of all emails. If you are planning to attend CSUN in
March this year please let me know. I will be there to finish my study
and
would welcome a chance to interview you in person!
Also, please let any of your blind friends, acquaintances, instructors
and
co-workers know about my study. You can post this on other lists if you
wish. The more data that can be gathered, the better the results will be.
I
look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you.
Kate Woodford
