There was a company named "Fish" who sold special laptops for poor and
needy. People liked this laptop mostly due to cost and the fact that it
contained a feature where the user can upgrade the component freely. Because
of this, other companies started developing companion accessories, such as
fans and power adapters for this laptop. Thus, the friendly competition
between the laptop company and others began.

The area that was most competitive was the monitors. The graphics card on
the laptop, called "Graph," featured a common display connector so that any
display from any manufacturer can be connected. Because of this, different
companies produced different displays to suit people's needs. For instance,
the laptop company's product, called "Mainstream," featured a scroll wheel
on the side of the screen for easy navigation. Other companies' products,
namely "Sensa" and "Power Ultra," featured built-in speakers and even a
dedicated function keys on the bottom of the display. Thus, the displays of
other manufacturers became more successful.

Worried at this, coupled with losing sales of other accessories, Fish
devised "additional cost" tactic where other companies are forced to pay for
the compatibility of their display with the Fish's graphics cards. While
some manufacturers accepted this proposal, the majority of them refused,
citing cost and monopoly concerns - that only Fish's displays would be
compatible with their own graphics cards. Thus, one of the manufacturers
began circulating a paper which, among other things declares that the
tactics devised by Fiseh is not a good idean and puts pressure on the part
of the display manufacturers.

This is a hypothetical example. But sadly, the reality is that this is
what's happening to us right now:

As for the meaning of each of the ficticious product and company names, I've
done that way for legal reasons. But I think you will be able to guess who
or what they are.
