Hi,
So in essence we are suggesting a Windows Explorer type of interface. As for moving up the tree structure from folder list, that would be SPACE with DOTS 2-3 (like LEFT ARROW). However, if we land at the first level folders, I would like to see the SPACE with DOTS 2-3 to show drive list (at least with the currently working drive highlighted).
The other things I would like to see are:
1. The ability to import some file operations to folders - protecting it via password, moving a folder, etc. 2. The ability to see the size of and number of subfolders and files contained in the folder (useful for people who have many large files and need to clean things out).
And so forth...
For those who had their hands on Apex: what did the folder structure look like, and if you have, have you tried using ActiveSync (or Windows Mobile Device Center) to view file and folder structure of an Apex? Thanks.
Cheers,
Joseph

Subject: Re: [Braillenote] Folder System Suggestions

I agree, especially with the first and last ones. Better
implementation of directory mode, and an option to leave that
mode on
all the time, are things I have long wished for. The ability to
basically copy a file or folder path to the clipboard and then
paste
it, as a name or as an actual file or folder, is also a feature
that
has long been lacking. The current folder manager is fine, but I
feel
that it needs some revamping. HW did say that one of the
features of
the Apex is a redesigned file manager, but they have so far not
elaborated. Hopefully someone with an Apex can tell us all what
the
deal is!

Since this seems to be a time for potential growth and
change, I just
thought that I would throw a few of my suggestions out into the
open for
people to comment on. They all have to do with the folder
system; however,
I understand that some of them may simply not be possible. I do
not know
the ins-and-outs of ks's underlying structure.

1. Being able to press backspace or another key to move up a
level in the
folder tree instead of having to erase the text on the line.

2. When moving or copying file(s), having an option to be
placed in the
destination folder after the move/copy.

3. The Source folder (or at least as an option) being where you
start when
selecting a destination folder.

4. Possibly being able to have more than one instance of file
manager
running at a time.

5. Being able to copy/move folders to more than just another
drive.
