Because of the confusion over trade-ins, I
contacted my Braille Note dealer, Roger Behm. I
am sending our correspondence below. Please note
the difference between those who bought Braille
Notes since October 1, 2009 and the rest of us.
Roger quotes from a Humanware official, so please
read it so that we all understand. I had the same
kind of panic after an earlier post here because I have two of these units.

HI Evelyn,
The only thing that ends on December 31, 2009 is
the exchange program for those who received a
new MPower 32 or 18 unit after October 1st, 2009.
Otherwise this trade in will last for a long
time, since it has been going on since November
2007, when the MPower transplantd ended.
The only other thing that ended when the Apex
was announced was classic transplants for
MPowers which they have no parts left at all!
So who ever stated that was in error an dconfused!

RETURNS AND EXCHANGES:
· Any BrailleNote mPower 32 that shipped
on or after October 1 can exchange to BrailleNote Apex 32 cell at no charge.
· Any BrailleNote mPower 18 that shipped
on or after October 1 can receive full value towards a BN Apex
· ALL SMA, Dictionary, Nemeth, GPS will
be transferred to new BrailleNote Apex

Subject: Apex Exchange or trade-in orders procedures
As you all know we are getting many calls for
exchanges from mPowers to Apex and for trade-in
from older BrailleNotes to Apex. I just wanted
to share with you the procedure that we have in
place to handle these requests and how we will process the orders.
The customer calls us for an exchange or
trade-in. We need to get the customers name,
address, telephone number, email address and
serial number of the units being sent back.
We need to ask if the customer has any optional
extensions, example Dictionary, Namath tutorial
or GPS. We also need to know if they have an SMA
Because we do not want to deprive the customers
of their existing units we will call them back
as soon as we receive the APEX inventory (beginning of December).
The CSRs will call the customer and issue an RMA
and call tag. Once the unit arrives we will
create the Sales order and the APEX will be shipped to the customer.
If you are taking a call from the customer and
they want a trade-in or exchange please gather
